The Nutcracker: Ballet Hawaii in Honolulu

Ballet Hawaii: The Nutcracker brings the beloved holiday ballet to the Neal S. Blaisdell Center - Concert Hall on December 13, 2026. The production is part of the season's holiday performances, with Ballet Hawaii presenting its own staging of a story that has delighted audiences around the world for generations.

First performed in St. Petersburg in 1892, The Nutcracker features Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's celebrated score and choreography originating with Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. Clara's Christmas Eve adventure moves from a festive family gathering to a battle with the Mouse King and a journey to the Kingdom of Sweets. Signature moments include the growing Christmas tree, the Waltz of the Snowflakes, the Waltz of the Flowers, and the Grand Pas de Deux.

This two-act ballet typically runs about two hours, including one intermission. Elaborate costumes, scenic settings, and a mix of professional and young dancers help create its distinctive holiday atmosphere. In Honolulu, the performance offers a seasonal cultural outing in the heart of Oahu's capital, where visitors can pair an evening at the ballet with the city's restaurants and downtown attractions. Prices currently start around $40, with final costs varying by seat and availability.

Venue and Seating Information

The Neal S. Blaisdell Center - Concert Hall hosts performing arts events in a dedicated concert setting. For ballet, seats with a clear, relatively unobstructed view of the stage are especially useful: they let audiences follow formations, choreography, and the production's visual details. Review the seating map when selecting tickets, as sightlines and proximity vary by section.

For a balanced view of the full stage, consider central seating at a comfortable distance rather than choosing solely for closeness. The Nutcracker's large ensemble scenes and scenic transitions are designed to be seen across the stage, while audience members who prioritize costume and performer detail may prefer seats nearer the front.

Parking Information

Parking availability, rates, and event-day arrangements can change. Check current venue guidance before leaving, and allow extra time for holiday-season traffic and entry. Possible options include:

• On-site parking at the Blaisdell Center, subject to availability and posted event rates.
• Nearby public or commercial parking in central Honolulu; confirm operating hours, walking distance, and pricing before parking.
